hi,
first of all, we are using the newest llblgen pro version (which is from 26 october 2010 i guess).
i want to make a totally (not the content will be totally changed. the most will be copied from existing templates, but we will store them far away from the llblgen pro 3.0 program location) new template binding for our project. where can i find a documentation about how to do that.

thanks in advance

chris

hi matt,
thank you very much for answering. my problem is, that I do not know where to find the documentation about how to build my own template binding from the scratch. I red for example the "LLBLGen Pro v3.0 SDK documentation" as I think very careful, but I did not find a hint how to do what I want. Writing that, I know that your answer is as correct as it could be but I would be very happy if you provide me with the informations I need.

Thank you very much in advance,

best regards

chris

I assume you have read this: The template system

This should be your starting point, if you are stuck in the middle, could you please explain in details, what ahve you been trying and where exactly are you stuck so we can help you proceed.

Thanks.

hi walaa,

thank you for answering my question. and yes, i did. unfortunately, my working environment is not connected to the internet. i will try to explain in words what i need to achieve:

when i start up llblgen pro and open the template studio, i see templates, i do not want to see because they are in sub directories of the program directory of llblgen pro ( their names start with SD). i copied them and renamed them (their names now start with SMC), but i see no possibility to get rid of the originals. no delete button or something. but i need to see only the templates we have tailored and put in our own directory structure.
so i opened my eyes wide and looked again on the template studio to find the root of all template bindings. and this seems to be .......\SD.TemplateBindings.General templatebindings.
ok, if i could copy this file into our own directory structure, i think, this would be a way to go. but i do not see any possibilities to edit this file nor to change it's directory nor to tell llblgen pro the new home of this file.

i hope, i was able to explain in detail, looking forward to here from you,

best regards

chris

Can you tell us more about what you are trying to acheive, ie why you want to modify/create completly new template bindings - perhaps if we know more about what you are trying to do, we'll be better placed to help you, or suggest alternatives...

Why can't you modify the existing templates - you can always back them up, or reinstall to get back to the original values.

Matt

hi matt,

thank you too for answering. and yes, i noticed that i can backup and restore the templates at the day i installed the oct, 22 version over my existing llblgen pro installaltion and all my changes at the templates (and 5 working days) were gone. but those actions train ....

at the end of the day, the things i try to achieve are such easy that i have problems to find more words to describe my needs. ok, another try:

if i (and any of my colleague who might have choosen different installation sites for llblgen pro 3.0) start up llblgen pro to work with, we want to see ONLY the templates we use. the site on th harddrive must be completely independent from the installation site of llblgen pro.
example:
first pc:
installation site: c:\program files\solutions design\......
template site: d:\dev projects\templatebindingsstartdirectory\...

second pc:
installation site: c:\programme\devtools\solutions design\.....
template site: d:\sources\templatebindingsstartdirectory\

where the content in templatebindingsstartdirectory and above is source controlled. my problem is, that i did not find the documents where is described hot to achieve this. and i would be extremly happy to get some hints where to start reading about solving this issue.

thank you very much in advance,

best regards

Chris. What exactly do you want? Do you want the templates binding file specify where to find the templates? If that is the case, each dev/machine must specify the additional templates/tasks folders to work with in LLBLGen Designer.

hi daelmo,

what i want is:

1. building some new templates (which derive from originals)
2. save them where ever i want (but not in the installation directory of llblgem pro 3.0)
3. set them under source control
4. every team member who now makes a 'get' and starts llblgen pro 3.0 gets the templates shown in his / her template studio editor within llblgen pro 3.0.

i have attached a picture which shows the actual situation:
you see templates which name start with 'SD.' and templates start with 'SMC.'. a good first step in the right direction would be to get rid of the templates starting with 'SD.'.

and we should go forward a little bit faster. perhaps it would be a good idea to try to exchange question and answer twice a day?

thank you very much in advance,

best regards

chris

The attached pic shows a list of "SD_" templates which belongs to the Selected (for Edit) template Binding.
What you need to do is to create new templateBinding file.

ok,

i just tested it with a colleague of mine: as you might have seen in the attached picture sent earlier, i made some template bindings which names start with 'SMC.' They bind some templates i changed to our needs. everything (the llblgen pro project file too) is has been checked in source control.
i went to my colleague and we made a get on his pc, started llblgen pro 3.0, opened the project and:
only the original template bindings and templates were chown within llblgen pro.

so, in source control is something missing. what is it?

It would be very kindly getting more than one answer a day. is this a problem?

regards

chris

Did your partner's Designer point to the correct folder for the AdditionalTemplates project property?

hi walaa,

thank you for answering.

to where does he has to point? with what? and how? please, just tell me where i can find a documentation about this.
where in a llblgen pro 3.0 project can i define the correct folder?

i defined some additional pathes in the llblgen pro 3.0 project file (under source control). if my partner checks this out and opens it with llblgen pro 3.0, in the project properties, the additional pathes are not shown. why?

i added another jpeg, which shows the additional pathes (which seems the same as the originals, but the root is another and i kept the original pathes: what you see are REAL ADDITIONAL PATHES).

thank you very much in advance,

best regards

chris

Hi there,

How did you find a solution to this problem? From everything I've read, custom templates need to be stored under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Solutions Design\.." or similar - which is clearly a deal-breaker.

LLBLGen Pro team - has this been resolved since this thread?

Ben, you can define additional templates folder in the "Project Settings". See this for more information

What problem exactly are you referring to?
What LLBLGen version are you using?
btw, this thread is very old. In the future please open a new thread so we can give you better support.

Apologies - I was looking for exactly this option and was too blind to see it.

Thanks!
