Hi Guys,

Just wondering when the next version (minor or major release is due) and if there will be a consultation period with uses on new features to be included?

Cheers,

Pete

We'll release a v2.6 CTP for the Linq-only features hopefully this month. We've done a lot of the development for the Linq provider, function mappings for the various databases and hierarchical fetches are the things which are left, the rest is done. We then use a month or so to make some breaking changes to the runtime to solve some edge cases, and we'll add some minor features which are requested a lot. We hope to start a beta next month.

After that v3 development will start. We won't have a forum for discussions about features included in a version, as we found that to be not really helpful in the last development cycle (read: too much focus on details / tiny features while the major changes were mainly left undiscussed.). With major versions we want to make big leaps forward and that should take a leading role, not the focus on building in 1001 tiny features. We DO log all feature requests in our tracker and when major versions are developed we do analyse requested features and if possible we'll build them in. However having discussions which way the tool should be going is something we won't discuss in a forum. If people have feature requests, please use the feature requests forum for that. simple_smile

V3 will hopefully go in beta at the end of 2008 and will contain a new designer and ways how things are mapped, defined etc. and a new code generation pipeline which will bring code generation to the next level simple_smile
