Hi !

Would it be a good idea to split the databinding and GUI controls into two seperate forums? I'm currently most interested in Winforms. Actually I'm mostly interested in ways to avoid using databinding, and read through the forums to get tips and hints. Anyway, as it is now, I'll have to walk to tons of ASP related stuff - unless the poster has been kind enough to state that he's talking about ASP in the subject.

Since I've been wandering around in these halls, I've found that I'm learning a lot more than I've expected. These forums are filled with knowledgeable people from a lot of different fields. That's common in programming forums, but I find the quality of the discussions here a lot higher than anywhere else. Frans seems to be the true Oracle of Databases and O/R and even though he looks to be in the thirties he must at least be 150 years old to have obtained all that knowledge.

And finally. I've been a sceptic about LLBLGen, even after I bought it. But I have now run a few test with Native ADO and LLBLGen agains MSSQL2005 and found that LLBLGen was almost as fast. And since you get a lot of extras with LLBLGen, I find this very impressive.

The learning curve for using the designer and generate the code was very low. The learning curve for using the generated code was a lot higher. Everything I needed was documented, but it was scattered around. I found something in the helpfile, something on the forum and something in Joseph Chancellors book.

But now that I've get some simple stuff up and running and are able to fill lookups and save and append data, I'm very pleased about it. Especially after trying to do the same in ADO to compare the amount of work needed.

All in all, I love using LLBLGen. Thanks for a great product and thanks the all the clever people who spend their spare time helping rookies around in here.

I would have to agree. You won't find better support anywhere else.
