Hi,

I am rather new to .NET and I am evaluating Visual Studio 2005 with .NET 2. I do not want to start with VS 2003 and LLBLGen Pro 1.x for obvious reasons.

I read on your website:

In the first quarter of 2006, we expect to release LLBLGen Pro version 2.0.

I searched the forums but I could not find the straight answer when this new version will be launched. I did read about a beta version but I could not find details on how to evaluate this beta version.

Could you please shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Joep

The current version has templates and libraries that are specific to dotnet 2 and vs2005. I am using both. I agree with the vs2003 part. But you should start today with llblgen pro v2005.1 using the vs2005 templates and dotnet 2.0 libraries.

The next version of llblgen pro, will then let you evolve into expanded features.

Thanks arschr for your reply.

Any information on when v2 will be launched and the beta program?

Cheers,

Joep

Our deadline for v2 is end of march. Currently we expect a small slip of that date into april, but not much, so the beta should start early april and we then release v2 as we think it's OK, which in the past was often after a month of betatesting.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok, so I should start with v1 against vs2005 and .NET2. How difficult will it be to to migrate to v2 later on?

Thanks,

Joep

Pretty simple, if you don't use custom templates, a re-generation of hte code should be enough with a change/fix of your own code here and there. Backwards compatibility is a big item for v2 so we try to do our best to make migrating to v2 as painless as possible. Some stuff will break, but we keep track of every change which will cause a breakage so migrating should be pretty painless.

Otis,

Since I have been a long time user and owner of the great LLBLGen Pro product, when v2 comes out will I see a place under my logged in section of the website for the discounted sunglasses upgrade?
