It would be nice to have a flag in the gui to set whether relations were hidden or not by default. Currently all relations are defaulted to be not hidden, but in a large project you end up having to turn off most of the relations by hand. Is there a way to do this currently?

No, there is no way to do this at the moment. I'll add it to the todo. I do wonder if it's more efficient though.
