Is there any Solutions Design presence there this year?

For those of us in the general LLBL community going it'd be a nice meet up.

We won't be at TechEd 2007, I'm sorry.

Hmm, that's an interesting thought, though. I wonder if we couldn't organize some kind of event where we could all meet up. Are there any conferences you're attending Frans that would serve as a good place to hook up?

I haven't planned to go to any conferences this year, at least not to the US, just a small er dutch event simple_smile

What I mostly find of conferences is that it takes a lot of time and the material you learn is mostly marketing. Meeting people is great of course, but the conference itself also has to be worthwile IMHO

I wonder if the size of the LLBL community warrants a conference. I know for myself I wold attend one for sure if FRANS was there to conduct some sessions or to discuss future road-maps.

Maybe Frans should do a video for InfoQ?

I will be on the same continent as you in July. I am headed to Scottland for some golf. So software development will be the last thing on my mind!

We thought about this several times, though as we have customers in more than 55 countries, it's a bit of a risk to organise it: who would come to the conference?

Heh, well first things first: .net rocks interview on May 31st. There are plans to do screencasts in the second half of 2007, to be released on our site (not on infoq/dnrtv).

Have a great time there! I've never been to Scottland, but I've heard it's beautiful albeit a bit cold and rainy at times wink

Seems it would be difficult to get enough momentum with your own customers to organize a conference - but what about a more general ORM conference for .NET? There could be some general purpose sessions - current state of the art, directions, Microsoft's role, etc, and then have educational tracks per product? That would make it more interesting and you could get a lot more interest...

They had such a conference in germany on a small scale, with some german o/r mapper vendors, but it's more or less a marketing pitch conference and everyone had one slot during the day. I'm not so sure a lot of people will show up on such a conference, simply because the travel expenses can be huge.

Stockton, California would make an excellent location for a conference and that would keep (my) travel expenses down. simple_smile Plus, we have cows! stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

We also have cows. But our cows are French, so holding it in Toolijooa, NSW, Australia, would give it an international flavour!
