Just a little poll to find out how people are managing their projects. By "projects", I mean: how are you tracking what work needs to be done, against what resources you have, against time?

This would include

Requirements/Feature/Story tracking Resource assignment/scheduling Progress Tracking et al.

I found a very interesting tool called "Rally" at www.rallydev.com. Others are www.xplanner.org www.extremeplanner.com and www.targetprocess.com. I'd be interested in thoughts or feedback on these or information on what you're using and how well it's working for you.

Thanks. simple_smile

Hi,

Take a closer look at http://www.countersoft.com/ , their product is called Gemini and it's free for up to 10 users. I've been using it for about 3 years now and it does a great job in managing your projects with a pretty full set of options.

Good luck, Danny

We also use gemini, it really works. It has its quircks, but most issuetracker/management tools have these, and gemini turned out to be easy enough simple_smile . I wrote a connector for gemini so you can link subversion checkins with gemini issues, and also for example deny a checkin if there's no valid gemini issue number specified in the checkin comment simple_smile . It's somewhere on the gemini website.

Are you looking for free or not?

Take a look at BaseCamp http://www.basecamphq.com/ by 37Signals. They offer free trial and also have a free plan for a single project.

We are using Trac. http://trac.edgewall.org/

Frans, didn't you develop a SVN plugin for Gemini?

I used OnTime (http://www.axosoft.com/) and was quite pleased with it. Unfortionately we didn't have the funds to purchase it so I'm now using Gemini.

+1 for Gemini. That is what we use for MyHomePoint. My day job uses a variety of enterprise level tools, the biggest being TestDirector.

I do now have a question for those using Gemini and how you use HnD in combination? It seems to me like using both Gemini and HnD would duplicate a lot of issues. If I understand this correctly Gemini is being used as the Issue Tracker and HnD is being used as a forum where customers can discuss issues and tech support can help in the discussion. I suppose then if there was an issue being discussed in HnD that couldn't be resolved then the tech support would make the issue being discussed in HnD into an Issue in Gemini.

Is this sort of the scenario that is being used between the two systems?
