I am suddenly getting an error opening a project file. I first got a possible type mismatch error which the solution seemed to be to upgrade .net 1.1 to sp1 which I did. I am now getting a new error.

Binary stream does not contain a valid BinaryHeader, 0 possible causes, invalid stream or object version change between serialization and deserialization.

-----[Core exception]-------------------- at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.__BinaryParser.Run() at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectReader.Deserialize(HeaderHandler handler, __BinaryParser serParser, Boolean fCheck, IMethodCallMessage methodCallMessage) at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter.Deserialize(Stream serializationStream, HeaderHandler handler, Boolean fCheck, IMethodCallMessage methodCallMessage) at SD.LLBLGen.Pro.ApplicationCore.Project.Load(String projectPathFileName) at SD.LLBLGen.Pro.Gui.Forms.MainWindow.OpenExistingProject(String filenameToOpen)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I uninstalled llblgen and reinstalled the latest non 2.0 version 2005.something, sorry I dont have that available to me in this moment in time.

Thanks!

Are you opening a project which was saved in v2.0 of llblgen pro in v1.0.2005.1 of llblgen pro?

No sir. And the same project file that lives in sourcesafe can be opened by my coworkers. Thank you for the reply though.

Could you email the .lgp file you have on YOUR harddisk which fails on your machine to support AT llblgen.com ? Also if you copy the file from your harddisk onto a co-workers machine and open it there, does it generate the error there?

What's the version/release date of the Designer you are using? (Help -> About -> Released on)

Actually, I am sorry for wasting your time. My coworker just 'assumed' it worked and didnt actually try it, since the last time he tried it worked fine... you know, behavior doesnt change over time wink

Anyhow, it ends up being a sourcesafe issue, it corrupted the file and all its historical copies in the database, so I am regenning now. Glad regenning is so easy!

I'm getting a similar message:

Binary stream '110' does not contain a valid BinaryHeader. Possible causes are invalid stream or object version change between serialization and deserialization.

The projects I created with the July release of 2.0 won't open in the new September release. Is this expected?

No that's not expected. Your error suggests a corrupt file. You too have stored the file in sourcesafe?

No, I'm not using any kind of source control. I just tried to open a second project, also created with the July version, and I got the same error. Not a huge problem - especially with the toggle hide flag of m:n relationships plugin that saves me a huge amount of time regenerating...
