This article Long url @ reuters

talks about how the Netherlands will never be the same without the sparrow that almost killed their chances at setting the Dominoe toppling world record. Did you post your condolences, Frans?

heh simple_smile no I didn't post my condolances, although I'm normally a 'green party' member. The main reason is that it's kind of hypocritic to say it's a shame if you're not a vegetarian (IMHO of course (I'm not a vegetarian, and neither is the vast majority of this country wink )) and wear leather shoes. Also, our country has the most fur breeding farms (I don't know the english name for 'nerts' which is a small animal which is very furry) in the world but the animals are living under horrible conditions. No-one complaints (well, no-one, not a lot actually wink ) about that.

Although I found it of course completely unnecessary to kill the little sparrow, it also could have been caught and released outside. What surprised me also was that there was a person at hand with a gun (airgun, but still) while we have a strict gun ban here, even for airguns.

So did the break they record?

It was on the tv here for a full 2 hours! I watched for a total of about 2 minutes, very impressive, but 2 hours watching dominoes fall over confused

hehe simple_smile Well, they started this madness 15 years ago or even earlier. Back then it was amazing, now each year they have this event and after a couple of years, the 'whoa' factor is just not there anymore wink

So how many dominos, per capita, are in the Netherlands? Or were these imported dominos? wink

And more to the point, what kind of swallow was it? African? smile
